Serbia Fashion Week – November 2018
Serbia Fashion Week has a well-earned place in the world`s calendar of fashion weeks. With immense perseverance, much patience and professionalism, Svetlana Horvat, the president of Serbia Fashion Week, manages to coordinate this event. I want to thank her this time also for the invitation to take part in Serbia Fashion Week.
As the city of Novi Sad is preparing to become the European Cultural Capital in 2021, this title adds value to Serbia Fashion Week. In fact, it is mutual aid and mutual exchange of image. Serbia Fashion Week helps the town of Novi Sad, and the Danube city helps Serbia Fashion Week.
The November 2018 edition was spectacular. Everything debuted at the most important gallery of Serbia, the “Matica srpska” Gallery. The opening of Serbia Fashion Week was celebrated through fashion and art, remembering the armistice of the First World War. Painter Ivana Jevtovic had the opening of her exhibition “Remembering, Sorrow and the Beauty” inspired by Serbian military uniforms.
Throughout the week, Serbia’s most famous designers presented their collections: Suzana Peric, Marija Sabic, Bata Spasojevic, Bosko Jakovljevic, Milica Trickovic, and Igor Todorovic. In addition, the international designers’ side was well represented at this edition. Eymeric Francois (France), Khan by Kristina Minnihanova (Russia), Ritienne Zamit (Malta), Vane by Vanessa Macchia (Italy) were just some of those who presented their latest clothing creations on the catwalk.
As we have already become accustomed to this time, design contests have taken place, Fashion Talents Design Competition and European Fashion Talent Design Competition. The finalists of these two contests had the opportunity to present at Serbia Fashion Week. The seminars held by fashion specialists were also found in the program of this event.
I do not go into the details of each day because I have prepared a separate article and video for each day of Serbia Fashion Week. I can only tell you that an absolutely beautiful building, the “Edseg” Castle was one of the places that Serbia Fashion Week used in this edition and my outfits throughout the festival were provided by Men`s Club specialists.
Serbia Fashion Week has crossed the borders of this country and as new testimonies are the new projects, where this event has been integrated thanks to the perseverance of Svetlana Horvat. Therefore, in 2019, Serbia Fashion Week goes in France through the Defile of Paris project and in China through an international co-operation.
As you probably expected, I invite you to watch the video dedicated to this edition of Serbia Fashion Week where you will find the collections of the fashion designers and the atmosphere throughout the whole event.
